Turbochargers TK32

Turbochargers TK32 are designed for installation on diesel generators 1A-9DG version 2 and 1A-9DG version. 3.

TK32 turbochargers are manufactured to replace turbochargers of the 6TK, TK41V-21 and TK41V-25 types.

TK32 turbochargers are produced in the following modifications:

  • TK32 – 07 are designed for installation on diesel generators 1A-9DG version 3. as part of TE10MK diesel locomotives. Turbochargers TK32-07 are interchangeable with turbochargers 6TK and TK41-25. Technical specifications TU24.06.05.046-2008.
  • TK32 – 09 are designed for installation on diesel generators 1A-9DG version 2. as part of TE116 diesel locomotives. Turbochargers TK32-09 are interchangeable with turbochargers 6TK and TK41-21. Technical specifications TU24.06.05.048-2008.

Comparative tests of diesel generator 1A-9DG version 3 with turbocompressors TK32-07 and TK41V-25 were carried out.

Comparative parameters obtained during testing are given in Table 1 (nominal mode).

Compared to 6TK turbochargers, TK32 turbochargers have the following features:

  • The structural design (rotor supports at the ends) is traditional for these turbochargers. This scheme, compared to 6TK, has lower speeds in the bearings and, as a result, greater reliability and service life of the bearings. The performance of the bearings is maintained even when a rotor imbalance occurs that is 10 times greater than the initial one.
  • The design of the main components (bearings, rotor, inlet, compressor housing) is unified with serial TK30S-02 turbocompressors installed on TEM7 diesel locomotives and has been tested in long-term (more than 30 years) operation.
  • The mass of the TK32 turbocharger, which has cast iron casings, is the same as the mass of the 6TK turbocompressor, which has aluminum casings, which determines the lower price of the TK32 turbocompressors.
  • Spare parts for TK32 turbochargers (bearings, sealing rings, etc.) also have a lower price, since they are unified with serial TK30S - 02.

Compared to TK41V-25 turbochargers, TK32 turbocompressors have the following features:

  • As a result of a complex of design and experimental work, it was possible to create a compressor with increased throughput, which made it possible to change the parameters of the 1A-9DG diesel generator. 2 version 3 use a compressor with a reduced diameter of the compressor wheel - 340 mm instead of 420 mm for TK41-21 TK41-25 and 390 mm for 6TK. Accordingly, the dimensions of the housing parts were reduced, which made it possible to reduce the mass of the turbocharger by almost 1.5 times compared to the TK41V-21 and TK41V-25, which in turn determines its lower price.
  • TK32 turbocompressors have higher efficiency and lower (2 times) rotor inertia, which reduces operating fuel consumption and gas temperature in front of the turbine, both in stationary and transient processes.
