Description of diesel generator 10D100

Diesel generator 10D100 is the power plant of a diesel locomotive. The diesel engine is connected to the generator by a semi-rigid coupling and mounted on the same frame. Diesel 10D100 is a two-stroke, vertical, ten-cylinder, two-shaft engine with counter-moving pistons, direct fuel injection, turbocharging, direct-flow blowing and water cooling. In the upper part of the cylinder liner there are inlet ports through which air enters the cylinder from the purge receiver. At the bottom of the sleeve there are exhaust ports through which gases exhausted in the cylinder enter the exhaust manifold. In the central part of the cylinder liner, two nozzles are located diametrically opposite, which inject fuel into the combustion chamber formed by the pistons as they approach.

The air supply to the diesel cylinders is provided by a supercharging system with charge air cooling. The supercharging system is two-stage: the first stage is two autonomous turbochargers operating in parallel; the second stage is a mechanically driven blower. Turbochargers are driven by the energy of exhaust gases. Atmospheric air is sucked in through an oil-film filter.
