Description of diesel generator 5-26DG

The 5-26DG diesel generator consists of a 12D49 diesel engine and a GP-312 or GP-320 DC generator, installed on a common frame and connected to each other by a plate-type coupling.

The diesel engine is a four-stroke, twelve-cylinder internal combustion engine with a V-shaped cylinder arrangement, gas turbine supercharging and charge air cooling.

Installed on M62 type diesel locomotives instead of the exhausted 14D40 diesel engine (12DN23/30).

Installation of 5-26DG diesel generators on M62 type diesel locomotives, the design of which incorporates the latest design developments, allows increasing the efficiency of diesel locomotive use and reducing:

  • maintenance and repair costs;
  • operating fuel consumption up to 24%;
  • fuel consumption at idle mode is 2.3 times;
  • oil consumption 2.5…3.0 times.
